Delilah\'s adoption was completed on Friday and she went home! Even though the family and Delilah met earlier last week, she\'ll be a surprise for the daughter. We know she\'ll be a wonderful addition to this family!

During Saturday\'s adoption event at Highland PETCO, Lance, Kim and their three children spent time with Twinkle and Star, Buster, Gracie, and Mandy...but Star and Twinkle were the lucky bunnies! We know this family will have fun with Star and Twinkle!

On Sunday, Herbie, an adorable grey jersey wooley, was adopted by his fill-in foster family! Herbie\'s foster dad was going to be out of town for the first week that Herbie needed a place to go, so Jan and Mitch stepped in to bunny sit. And they fell in love! Herbie was adopted by Jan and Mitch as a friend for their bunny, Nemo.

Later on Sunday, Jessica and her mom Lora came to meet Mandy and Mayda. It was a difficult choice, but Mandy ultimately caught mom and daughter\'s heart and went home!

Penelope gets adopted
')

Penelope and Dusty met today for their second date - and it went VERY well! The two were very relaxed around each other. Penelope did the "dead bunny flop" several times, and Dusty even groomed Penelope a little bit! I think it will be no time before the two are a happily bonded pair.

Howie, a chinchilla gray Jersey Wooly, was adopted to be a companion to a female rabbit that had recently lost her friend. After just a few "dates", the two are already doing quite well together.

Poncho, a sable dwarf with a white spot on his nose, was adopted by his foster home to become part of a trio. Initial introductions went very well.

Adrienne, a dark gray Jersey Wooly that has been residing at Highland Park PETCO, was adopted to be a companion for a 10 yr old male rabbit that had recently lost his former companion.

The first adoption!

The first of the confiscated rabbits found a new home at Sunday\'s adoption event in Roseville! Pooka, the poor li')
document.write('ttle bun that had to be shaved to remove horrible mats, went to a great home with a lady who has previously had house rabbits. She spent some time meeting the many fosters at the Roseville event, but just fell in love with Pooka. Pooka is featured on the confiscation page, right under "How you can help these bunnies" shortly after she was shaved and also on the Photo of the Month. MCRS is excited that Pooka has come so far already and will now have her own human to dote on her. Congrats on your new home, Pooka!

A total of 44 new foster rabbits!

Today, the last of 44 confiscated rabbits were transferred to Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society. There are six rabbits staying at the shelter for adoption. We are so pleased that we were able to help so many of these rabbits, largely due to so many people being willing to foster. Thank you!

In the past week, MCRS has set up over a dozen new foster homes (some housing more than one rabbit). In addition, we were able to add several spaces to the network with the help of PETCO by putting two rabbits in our existing adoption locations and, in some stores, temporarily borrowing additional rabbit housing. This resulted in an additional 10 spaces being opened up!

While MCRS has been very fortunate and individuals have been very generous, this crisis has not passed until all these rabbits are healthy again and have found permanent homes of their own. We have completed the first phase - of finding them temporary homes and getting them physically relocated. Now MCRS is responsible for all aspects (and expenses) related to their care. Initially, most all of the rabbits seemed healthy. But recently, many have developed upper respiratory illnesses which are being treated. This is not totally unexpected based on the conditions they came from - heavy ammonia fumes from their unsanitary conditions - but it does make their care more complicated.

Our focus now shifts to educating the many new foster homes through the treatment of these rabbits while simultaneously planning how we can try to attract the many adoptive homes needed.
